The Whistle Blower is Jordan O’Grady’s clever adaption of his famous Divers Lung Tester. For anyone not familiar with the original, bespoke gag, do spend 2 minutes of your life watching the following:

As you can see – it’s essentially a fun prank – or at least it is unless you try it out on someone with a short temper. But as bespoke pieces the Lung Testers are obviously out of the budget of many.

So that clever man Mr O’Grady spent some time developing a much smaller (pocket sized) version which could be produced on a larger scale putting it in the reach of everyone. And as you will have guessed from the title – it is disguised as a common pocket whistle.

What do you get?

The Whistle Blower comes beautifully presented in a custom box and a drawstring bag. This contains the whistle itself and also a small plastic bottle to aid you with the filling. Also a link to the 15 minute online instructional video.

jordan ogrady the whistle blower in actionThe whistle looks very well made and should be hard wearing. Filling the whistle is a tiny bit fiddly but not difficult. And you will probably have to practise the knack of blowing the whistle ‘safely’!

What do we think?

If you like the idea of the prank then this is a no-brainer – affordable, pocket sized, innocent looking. My only real reservation is that you will most likely only get one shot out of this – so I’m not sure it would have a place in your walkaround set! It is more of a one-off – or a fun gag down the pub.

I’m sure you could incorporate it into a magic routine – but the need to re-fill every time means it can only really be used for special occasions.

And I suppose the obvious health warning is that you don’t try it out on someone easily angered or bigger than you! And try not to have too big a smirk on your face…

The Whistle Blower is a fun and ingenious bit of kit which you will enjoy using. You can pick up your copy from the Merchant of Magic for £31.99 (at the time of writing).
